My voice cracked at 14. By the time i was 16, i was singing and talking in a register two octaves below what most other guys could do. Over the years i've learned to speak with clarity and with a deliberation that leaves little doubt as to the meaning of what I say.
Some years ago, I was running a small time talk show on Austin Access. When in public, my voice usually gave up my anonymity instead of my face. I've been told my voice is distinctive and a pleasure to listen to, though being the one living with it, i have to admit, it's hard for me to hear.
My favorite voices in Hollywood range from Lance Henrickson, Tony Todd, Avery Brooks, Patrick Stewart and the venerable James Earl Jones. Whether through imitation or influence, these are the voices that guide my voice.
I have made two recordings of some readings i've done. One is from Moby Dick by Herman Melville and the other is a passage from Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett- the most brilliant satirist alive.
To my discredit, the quality of these recordings leaves something to be desired. Unfortunately all I have access to right now is a cheap $5 microphone and some free software to work with. It is my hope that these readings will, at the least, give an indication of my voice and its range. In the future, I hope to add other voiceover samples such as sports announcing, a "monster truck rally" type commercial and some narration.
In the meanwhile, listen, try to enjoy and if you have a project that you would like to use me in, please contact me (be sure to correct the e-mail address).
