Snapshots From a Life
Thanksgiving at Bagby Hot Springs

To set this up, it's thanksgiving day, 2002. We've all gotten up at 4am to drive to the base of Mt. Hood by sunrise. Within a couple of miles of where we park is a small hole in the ground that churns out water (slowly) at about 130° . There are troughs built with wood from people who also built stalls and tubs for everyone to partake in the warm water. While it was a nice and comfortable 45° on the ground when we left Portland, it was 20° or so once we got to the springs. We needed this hot water after a while. Imagine our surprise when a rather large contingent of Russians had arrived before us and were busy making sure they had so much of the hot water that all i could get in my tub was enough to cover about half of my toes. 20°, bathing suit on, the sunlight unable to break through the canopy, steam coming off of every breath i take, my skin so goosebumped at this point that i was a tome for all those who can read braille, but at least i had enough water to keep half of my toes warm. I got dressed and eventually landed some really great footage of the area with my videocamera and the Russians were able to make sure none of the water was wasted on anyone else.

Anyway, i KNOW i took some pictures of the springs themselves as well as some other images. Unfortunately those appear to be lost for the time being. They'll be posted as soon as possible.
